Yahoo's meaning?

i have been online since 4th grade which is i think, year 1999. but not so active unlike today.

i can still remember using netscape, hehehe... it's cool, i get to download cheat codes for my playstation 1,.. i miss those good'ol days...

since then i was always fascinated with internet, i can still remember the famous search engine back then( i can still remember that i dont even know what is a search engine) i remember using yahoo!

who knows what yahoo mean? or does it have a meaning.

earlier to day i was reading PC WORLD march edition(fan of reading back issues) which is 20 years special of the magazine.,

i read that YAHOO is an Abbreviation.! it simply meant

"Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle".

cool, right it is an abbreviation!

p.s Oracle? does yahoo own Oracle(the super database)? i dont get it. why the name?
does it offend? because of officious. i dont get it. Yahoo please answer me. :)
